Lessons in Leadership from Kansas Leaders

This series of clips on leadership is derived from oral history interviews of Kansans who served in elected roles as governor, legislator or from other elected or appointed offices. These clips will be useful to government teachers at the high school level as a way to identify and assess the qualities of effective civic leaders, or to evaluate the role of compromise in democratic governance. By integrating the Kansas Oral History Project into the high school curriculum, students can gain a deeper understanding of civic processes and the importance of active participation in democracy. This hands-on approach not only educates but also empowers students to become informed and engaged citizens.
